The Castle Pines Metropolitan District has developed a multi-year Water Efficiency Plan to chart a path forward that reduces our reliance on Colorado’s non-renewable groundwater. The District is currently 100% reliant on non-renewable groundwater resources. Our goal is to reduce our reliance on non-renewable groundwater by decreasing the amount of water we use on irrigation by 100 million gallons per year by utilizing more efficient irrigation technologies.
To further this plan, the District has contracted with an irrigation management expert to perform Irrigation Efficiency Analyses for the homes within the District to support water efficiency. We recognize that this is a new initiative, and you may have questions. We have answers. Our goal throughout this process is to create a positive experience for you and your household. We’ve outlined the most common questions for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
An Irrigation Efficiency Analysis is an evaluation of the property’s irrigation system to determine whether any improvements can be made to improve water use efficiency while maintaining the healthy and beautiful landscape that has been a hallmark of the Village since its inception.
Do I need to do anything for the Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
Yes (but not much)! You will need to sign up for an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis (information on how to sign up is provided below). Then, all that is needed is permission for our trusted irrigation management experts (and their employees) to access your property to assess the existing irrigation system. If your irrigation controller is located within the home, our irrigation consultant will also need access to the controller and we ask that you schedule a time when you are at home to give the analyst access to the panel.
What happens during an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
Analysts from our trusted irrigation management expert will start and run every working zone within your irrigation system. The analyst will collect data about the condition and efficiency of each zone. The results of the collected data will then be compiled into a report that will be shared with the homeowner. The entire analysis generally takes less than 2 hours to complete.
What will I receive at the end of an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
You will receive a report with information on your existing irrigation system and with suggestions on how to use less water. These improvements may be eligible for a rebate of up to $1,500 through the CPMD Homeowner Water Efficiency Rebate Program. More information on the CPMD rebate program can be found by clicking here.
Who do I contact if an issue is discovered with my irrigation system?
The District has developed a list of approved irrigation professionals, which can be found by clicking here. You may also call an irrigation professional of your choice.
How much will an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis cost me?
There is no charge to the homeowner for this analysis. The cost of this analysis is being paid for by the District as a good faith effort that homeowners will complete the proposed water efficiency upgrades recommended by the report to aid in reducing irrigation waste.
Who is eligible to receive an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis?
Every home in the District that has an irrigation controller at their home is eligible for an Irrigation Efficiency Analysis. Please note that some sub-associations irrigate all the common property within that sub-association. In these instances, the District is working directly with the sub-association to help them upgrade their irrigation system.
